PADI Scuba IDC Programs

During the PADI Scuba Instructor Development Course, you'll learn the PADI System of diver education, standards and procedures, effective academic teaching presentations, teaching in confined water, conducting open water training dives and additional related topics. There are two distinct components to the IDC process - the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) course. The AI course is a minimum of 3 days and the OWSI course is a minimum of 4 days.

To become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, you must successfully complete an IE (Instructor Examination). You will be evaluated on dive theory, academic teaching, confined-water teaching, open-water teaching and general diving skills and professionalism.

As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor you can conduct the entire range of PADI experience programs and PADI diver programs, from Open Water Diver through Divemaster (except for specialties and PADI Medic First Aid).

After successfully completing your PADI IDC/OWSI and IE, you receive a certification card and certificate denoting this rating. You'll also become a member of PADI and receive benefits, including the ability to purchase professional liability insurance (which may be required to conduct some activities).

In addition to AI and OWSI, a full curriculum of continuing instruction education is available: MSDT, EFR, Dan O2 Instructor, Enriched Air Instructor, Individual Specialties; IDC Staff Instructor and Status Updates.

Who will be teaching the IDC?

Anna began her career in the dive industry in 1984 when she became an Instructor. She has been teaching full time since then in Destin Florida. Anna became a PADI Course Director in 1989 and has taught IDC's in Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Bahamas, Belize and Roatan.

Anna began her association with AKR in 1994 when she began teaching IDC's for the resort. After Phil Weir took over in 1997, Anna continued running group trips from her dive center in Florida, to enjoy what AKR has to offer. Phil retired from teaching Scuba to pursue his real estate career and now has a successful firm with the main office located on Anthony's Key property.

Anna was happy to return to the island to offer the finest Instructor training courses around!
Her knowledge of diving, teaching diving and the dive industry coupled with the tropical setting of Anthony's Key Resort - make a perfect combination for you to enjoy your professional training experience!

If one of the above dates do not fit your schedule, Anna will be teaching these Florida programs:
